Jackson DeVinny
Game Designer & Animator

This small game, known as "Weapons Short of Destruction", was the final game I worked on while studying at DePaul. This team project was to be our thesis title, a project that effectively demonstrated everything we learned through the school. We were given six months to work on this project and it was structured to better match actual development schedules. Meaning we were given short time to progress the game from concept, to prototype, to alpha, and to beta. The project deadline concluded with a showcase that allowed every team to properly show off their games.
My role on the team was lead designer. While the original concept was not of my own (rather, a collective idea from all members), I took on the responsibility of ensuring the project matched our original ideas. I added my own original concepts of course; things like weapon ideas, level designs, original lore/dialogue, and environmental traps. Not only that, but I also contributed my own animation experience to the game with some of the trap movements. I was not responsible for creating the code or most of the art, but I ensured, through clear communication with my team, that everything matched up with the original design document/goals. Of course whenever we noticed something needed changing or re-balancing, I also worked to come up with reasonable solutions.
The team and myself even continue to make changes/additions to the game when available and hope to turn this title into a fully purchasable title.
